Day 01 - Golden Pass northern leg
After a warm welcome, you will be escorted to board a train at the Zurich whereas at Lucerne shift to the Golden Pass route which takes you to the Interlaken Ost. The total duration of the travel will be around 3 hours.
Day 02 - Jungfraujoch
On the second of the Switzerland train tour, you will be visiting Europe’s highest rail route Jungfraujoch. You will board a train to Lauterbrunnen and Kleine Scheidegg reaches the Jungfraujoch. From here you view the spectacular view of the entire region and also you can enjoy the snow up here. Later descend back to the Kleine Scheidegg from here you will be taking another train to Grindelwald, passing the impressive Eiger North face. From there you will take a direct train to Interlaken ost.
The northern side of the Eiger mountain is located at an altitude of 3,000 m in between the valleys of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Northside of the mountain one can see the rock and ice. Only experienced mountain climbers are able to reach. However, a railway tunnel was made which runs in the mountain where passengers can have a window view of the Rock face of the mountain.
Day 03 - Golden Pass southern leg
Next, you will be traveling to Montreux through Golden Pass and Lake Geneva. You can even book the VIP seat for the magnificent view from the driver’s perspective. You have to book these tickets from Zweisimmen to Montreux. The total duration of the trip is 3 hours 15 minutes. If you are early to the place then try visiting the Rochers-de-Naye is another beautiful alps of Swiss on the Cogwheel train. Also, visit Chillon Castle an island castle in the Geneva lake.
Day 04 - Montreux - Zermatt
Go for a boat ride from Montreux to Lausanne. From Lausanne take a direct train to the Zermatt. The total travel duration from Montreux to Lausanne is 2 hours 30 minutes. You will have plenty of time to explore Zermatt. Also, go for the Cogwheel train trip to Gornergrat which gives an amazing view of the Matterhorn.
Day 05 - Glacier Express
On the fifth day of the Switzerland train tour, you will be boarding the Glacier express for the 6 hours fun ride. This takes you to the Oberalppass a high mountain pass, the Rhine valley and the historical town of Chur.
Day 06 - Bernina Express
You will be taking a ride in the Bernina Express which takes you across the scenic landscapes. Subsequently, places that cover in the ride are Tirano and the Italian border. Moreover, Bernina Express provides a bus service that takes you to the Lugano town in Switzerland. The train journey takes almost the entire day you will reach Lugano for dinner.
Note: In winter bus service is not available so tourist needs to use the regular train.
Day 07 - Gotthard Panorama Express
On the last day, Gotthard Panorama Express takes you back to North. Here you take a train to Flüelen, from here you will take a boat trip to Lucerne. In Lucerne, you will take a train back to Zurich. In case If you have time, you can extend your tour by spending one or two days in Lucerne and Zurich.
